Bye-Bye Nonna & Grampa

Nonna & Grampa flew back to London today. Julia had some special time with Nonna on Sunday before they left. I'm using a new app with my iphone video. I can't figure out how to embed the video. You'll need to go here to view it.

More Young Birthdays

If you're reading this, then you must know by now that the Young household celebrates all it's birthdays (with the exception of Chris' - he's always got to be different!) in the month of August. Uncle Bart's is actually on July 31, but that's close enough. Anyway, Carol & Alec finish off this marathon of summer birthdays on Aug 22 & 26, respectively. We celebrated Carol's at Del Posto & Alec's at Mr. Chow, with cocktails at Chris' lovely rooftop garden in Soho.

Having fun

Julia & I went down to the courtyard last Thursday, just before Hurricane Irene visited us. It was only after a few moments that I realized she was doing circuits. So I filmed one. Enjoy!

July vacations & celebrations

July was a busy month for us! Really busy! ;)

Alec & I had a wonderful San Francisco vacation, including a really nice visit with Uncle Rob & Deb:

Finally, we rang out the month of July with Uncle Bart's 80th birthday celebration. Family members came from as far as Colorado, Virginia, & Massachusetts:

There was a live band outside the Colony House at Mountain Lake tonight. Julia decided to enjoy the music from the putting green. The photographer at the event, Rita, (who's been baby sitting Julia while we've been visiting here) took some really fantastic photos of her:

Wonderful weekend

We had a really nice weekend. Our last together as a family for the next few weeks. :(

Saturday's big event was an Easter Egg Hunt at Waveny Park in New Canaan, CT:

For reference, in this one... Julia says "baby" and "thank you" a lot. Baby is the flip camera - she calls it that because she sees images of a baby (herself) on it a lot. Thank you is her way of saying "give that to me". She also says it when she wants to hand something to you:

First Steps

After we got Julia all sugared up on Aunt Ursula's wonderful biscotti this afternoon, she took her first steps. In a rush of hyperactivity, as she stood at her Busy Zoo



she turned, threw both of her hands up into the air, let out a yell & took 2.5 steps towards the coffee table.

Unfortunately, we didn't have the video camera out at the time. However, we did spend the ensuing moments trying to get her to do it again. Although not nearly as dramatic as the first time around, here's what we were able to capture.

My little monkey

Our nanny, Karla, took this video of Julia monkeying around with her favorite monkey - Mikey 2 days before her first birthday. It's amazing that she made it to the big 1! The video is fuzzy because this was taken with the camera with the broken lens (broken by little miss monkey, herself, by dropping it on the tile floor at Nonna & Grampa's house).

Happy Happy Day! We had fantastic weather for a fun celebration for our no longer so little girl. Sniff! I can hardly call her a baby anymore. She's swiftly turning into a toddler. Fun was had by all, including little Charlie (11 mos.), Finn (8 mos.) and especially the birthday girl, Julia.
