The Escape Artist

Karla babysat for us on Friday night. Julia decided she was ready to ditch the crib: Now to my utter frustration - despite mentioning to the sales person multiple times when purchasing her crib that my intention was to convert it to a daybed - there was never any mention of a conversion kit needed to do so. It was clear that if we wanted to convert to a double bed, that we'd need a kit. Needless to say, we need a conversion kit! Ugh! On top of that BuyBuyBaby no longer carries this manufacturer. On the upside, the salesperson was helpful enough to find another dealer for us. The kit's on order. Gonna take 6 weeks to arrive. :( In the meantime, Julia's sleeping on her mattress on the floor.

Snow Day!

This winter has been unusually warm & dry. I was starting to worry that we woulnd't get a chance to use Julia's snowsuit at all. Finally, on Saturday we got dumped on. Julia's first experience playing in the snow captured on film:

Christmas Videos!

It only took me a month to get my act together, figure out how to fix my technical difficulties & upload & splice some of our Christmas videos for everyone to enjoy. So consider this a belated Christmas present!

My New Best Friend

On Saturday evening, we went to the balloon inflation event in prep for the Stamford Thanksgiving Parade. Julia got a Dora balloon to take home. She had a personal conversation with her the whole way home. You can see her enthusiasm for her new found friend in this video. Enjoy:

We took advantage of the wonderful weather on Sunday & took a trip back to Blue Jay Orchards in Bethel, CT. It's a nice 1 hr trip away from us. We got there early enough to not have to worry about parking or long lines. We started with a wagon ride through the orchard, hot dogs for lunch & then a romp through the pumpkin patch. Bye-Bye Nonna & Grampa

Nonna & Grampa flew back to London today. Julia had some special time with Nonna on Sunday before they left. I'm using a new app with my iphone video. I can't figure out how to embed the video. You'll need to go here to view it.

More Young Birthdays

If you're reading this, then you must know by now that the Young household celebrates all it's birthdays (with the exception of Chris' - he's always got to be different!) in the month of August. Uncle Bart's is actually on July 31, but that's close enough. Anyway, Carol & Alec finish off this marathon of summer birthdays on Aug 22 & 26, respectively. We celebrated Carol's at Del Posto & Alec's at Mr. Chow, with cocktails at Chris' lovely rooftop garden in Soho.

Having fun

Julia & I went down to the courtyard last Thursday, just before Hurricane Irene visited us. It was only after a few moments that I realized she was doing circuits. So I filmed one. Enjoy!
